Putting Brookfield First

Brookfield is known for our strong schools, safe neighborhoods and dependable city services. Maintaining those strengths and planning thoughtfully for what comes next depends on clear decision-making and honest communication with residents.

I’m running for Common Council, District 6, because I want to help Brookfield stay fiscally responsible and support thoughtful changes that make our city feel more welcoming and connected.

Issues That Impact Us

  • Brookfield’s proposed 2026 budget makes it clear that the City faces a structural challenge: there is roughly a $4 million gap between what we raise through property taxes and what it costs to maintain current services.

After voters rejected last year’s referendum, the Council took steps to help close that gap in the short term. Those measures helped, but I do not believe they are a long-term solution.

As an alderperson, I will support early, transparent conversations about budget realities and tradeoffs, and advocate for long-term solutions that address the budget gap while protecting core city services.

  • Brookfield Square, located in our District 6, was once a vibrant and bustling part of the Brookfield community…a place where people gathered, shopped, ate and connected. Many residents agree that Brookfield Square still has tremendous potential, and we want to see it thrive again.

The planned public market opening in 2027 is an encouraging step, and shows that the City and property owners recognize the opportunity in front of us.

I see Brookfield Square as a chance to:

    • Revitalize an underused site in a way that responsibly strengthens the tax base

    • Support a thoughtful mix of uses, including local businesses and community-oriented spaces

    • Create a place people want to spend time

    • Apply lessons from successful areas like Downtown Brookfield

  • Many parts of Brookfield are centered around large retail centers, chain restaurants and busy roads. These are convenient, but they don’t always feel like places people want to walk around or spend time.

As redevelopment opportunities arise, I’m interested in practical ways the City can encourage spaces that feel more welcoming and community-oriented, without disrupting what already works.

  • Residents deserve to understand how decisions are made and have a voice in the process. As someone with a professional background in communications, I am committed to listening, communicating and encouraging community input before major city actions are taken.

About Catherine

I’m a Brookfield resident, parent and previous educator.

Professionally, I bring experience in thoughtful decision-making, communication and problem-solving. I studied English and French at the University of Notre Dame and spent a year teaching English in Rouen, France. After returning home, I taught middle school English and composition for nine years at Brookfield Academy.

In 2019, I transitioned into marketing and communications, where I now work as a communications and brand manager at an actuarial consulting firm. My work focuses on clear communication, organization, collaboration and follow-through. These are skills that are just as important in local government.

I believe Brookfield benefits when experienced leaders and new perspectives work together on the Common Council, and I’m excited to be part of that conversation as a representative from District 6.
